Bitmap Graphics file formats.JPEG

JPEG is short for Joint Photographic Experts Group.

JPEG is a compressing technique for colour image, but it reduces file size about 5% of there normal size and some detail lost.

The file format was created originally by Eric Hamilton, thesfy then convenor of JPEG as part of his work at C-Cube Microsystems, and was placed by them into the public domain under the name JFIF.

Vector.

Vector.

Vector files are more compactable then bitmap, so they are quicker to open or download.

Vector graphics formats offer advantages over traditional bitmap formats such as GIF or JPG. Perhaps most significant is the fact that with certain types of imagery.Vector graphics files are much smaller, in terms of the number of bytes they contain, than bitmap files of the same objects with similar detail. This makes Web pages load faster. Another asset of vector graphics is the fact that they can be easily scaled without loss of image resolution.Vector graphics rendering is best suited to images in which shapes can be defined by mathematical functions (for example, straight lines, simple curves, waves, circles, ellipses, squares, rectangles, and triangles). In some situations, vector graphics are inferior to bitmap graphics. An example is a photograph of a complex nature scene including trees, clouds, and other objects with fractal features. While it is possible to render such an image in vector format, the vector file may contain several times as many bytes as the equivalent bitmap file.

Bitmap

 Bitmap.

Bitmap (raster) images are a large number a small squares based in a grid known as pixel. The pixels have a specific location which also has a colour value to each one are assigned to.

Bitmap can represent gradation of colour and shade. The disadvantage of bitmap is, they only represent a fixed number of pixels in a grid so they appear jagged and lose detail if they are resized or displayed at a higher resolution.

Bitmap are mostly used for artwork created in painting programs and continuous-tone images e.g. photos
